author info :: about kim This is not so much information about me, but about my writing and the direction I intend to take Variable XY in the future. As long as I can remember, I’ve never imagined myself being anything other than a writer – I began writing stories at about six years old and it’s been my hobby and my dream ever since.

I began writing at a young age, always fascinated by the dynamic between two people in situations where love was not always a factor. Over the years, my interests and style of writing have changed as I have changed and it wasn’t until I stumbled upon yaoi and slash that I really began to find my niche. Relationships between two men – whatever the origin or basis – fascinate me. I won’t bother analyzing myself and my preoccupation with gender roles and social taboos, but I can say – unequivocally – that no other genre or type of story has grabbed me or inspired me to such an extent.

Since I discovered the genre, I’ve become increasingly frustrated by the lack of quality fiction made available to us. None of the larger publishing companies will touch the sort of storylines I want to read and write about and I get so tired of buying gay novels only to get them home and realize they’re nothing more than a stroke book. Why can’t publishers offer novels that deal with the same elements we love in any type of fiction, but also allow us the attraction, intrigue and romance that exist between two men?

I want to write for people like me. I want to write the sort of stories that I can never seem to find, but am constantly searching for. In my numerous web searches, I’ve managed to unearth some fantastic gay fiction but, as with any sort of web story, there is no guarantee that it will ever be finished and consistency is always a problem. At Variable XY, there will be consistent chapter updates as well as periodic novels. I decided a long time ago that, if publishers aren’t interested in the types of stories I wanted to write, that I would simply publish them myself. And, really, that’s what I’m doing.

The stories you’ll find here are just that – stories. Just like any novel, these stories will eventually end and when they do, I will replace them with a new series. Paramount for me will always be to provide my readers with quality fiction and I can promise my primary focus will always be the stories I write for you.

My intention – my direction – is to be able to increase my updates from every other week to once a week and still offer a novel or two a year. This is actually something I am working toward and plan to achieve in the near future. If you’re looking for serious, intriguing, professionally written fiction, this is the place for you.
